e-mail FAQ

  How about secure email ?

1.

Secure web page

Secure web page Internet email has been a relatively open protocol for the last 30 years. But you can access your email on a secure web page. Go to https://sp40.spanmail.net:7443/scripts/webmail.exe When you login there, you have to type your entire email address (jsmith@somedomain.com) in the email blank, not just the mailbox name (jsmith).

2.

SMTP Authentication

From your email client (e.g., Outlook Express) you can also use ssl authentication for the outgoing mail server, which would require that you change the port number to 465 instead of 25. It will complain about the certificate not matching the server name. (We share the spanmail certificate, but if you want a secure certificate for pinnsg.com we'd buy and install that for a mere $200)
