  Configure an E-mail account in Netscape (Macintosh OS9.x)  
 
 
   
 

The following shows how to configure Netscape on Macintosh for SpeedSpan email (Windows nearly identical).

1.

While Netscape is running, select "Preferences" in the "Edit" menu. Click on "Identity" (under "Mail & NewsGroups"). Fill in screen as in Picture 1 below, substituting your email user account id in place of "userid".

Then click on "Mail Servers" in the left frame and fill in the screen as in Picture 2 below.

   
3. Click "OK". (To use email, select "Messenger" in the "Communicator" menu. Click "Get Msg" and "New Msg" to receive and send email.)
   
 

Multiple Users:

To have multiple email accounts in Netscape, you need to set up different user profiles. First, quit Netscape. On a Mac, go to the folder ("Netscape 4.xxx") where Netscape Communicator resides, and find an application there called "User Profile Manager" or similar. Double click this application, and add a profile for another user by clicking "New" and filling in the information.

In Windows, use the Start menu and go to the Programs and find the Netscape applications. Then look under Utilities for the User Profile Manager. Click New and fill in the information. You will probably need to complete the configuration as above after Netscape starts.
For normal use, double click either the "User Profile Manager" or the "Communicator" or an alias of either. Because you have multiple users, you will have to select your user profile, and click Start.
