e-mail FAQ

How do I send selected email messages to my cell phone?

1. SMS Email

To send alerts to your cell phone, take advantage of the Email to SMS Gateway provided by most cell phone providers. The SMS Email is your phone's email address, which is just like a normal email address, but any message sent to it will be relayed to your cell phone. The table below lists some popular cell phone companies' SMS email addresses. For other providers or countries, please check with your provider. Or search it on Google.

Provider
What's my SMS Email address?
AT&T Wireless 10DigitPhoneNumber@mobile.att.net
Example: 9055556543@mobile.att.net
Cingular 10DigitPhoneNumber@mobile.mycingular.com
Metrocall 10DigitPhoneNumber@page.metrocall.com
Nextel 10DigitPhoneNumber@messaging.nextel.com
Sprint PCS 10DigitPhoneNumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
T-Mobile 10DigitPhoneNumber@tmomail.net
Verizon 10DigitPhoneNumber@vtext.com
ALLTEL 10DigitPhoneNumber@message.alltel.com
2. Use Filtering

Log onto your webmail from the SpeedSpan front page. Click on "Options" and then on "Filters and Exceptions." Pull down the top "--select--" menu; you're most likely to choose "From" or "Subject" from this list. Then fill in the " contains" blank. For example, if you want to be alerted when mail comes from "mydad@aol.com" select the "From" option and put that address in the "contains" box. You can use wildcards (an asterisk for multiple characters, or a question mark for one character) to make rules more flexible. For example "*dad@?mail.com" would match "mydad@gmail.com" or "ourdad@xmail.com" but not "ourdad@qmail.net". Then choose an action. In this case, the action would ordinarily be to "Forward - Keep a Copy" (click the radio button in front of this pull-down selection menu) to send the message to your cellphone, and fill in an address like those in the table above for your cell phone.
Note: your cell phone will only get the first 100 or so characters of the email, which is why you want to copy the email when forwarding, instead of forwarding and deleting.
