DoubleClick on "Dial Up Networking".
(Will look similar to the first picture below
if View for the folder is set to Details.) |

Option a: Double click Make a New Connection
and enter SpeedSpan for the connection name
and put in the SpeedSpan number 859.547.1415. (Do not dial 1 first if in Cincinnati Bell area.)
The other fields that are filled in can be
accepted. After you click Finish, right click
the new icon and select Properties. Continue
with # 4. |

Option b: Right click the name of a Connection
you no longer use to call to the Internet
and select Rename and enter SpeedSpan. Click
OK. (Note: Do this on the original connection
[inside the Dial-Up Networking folder], not
on a shortcut. Throw shortcuts away and make
new shortcuts to your connection after you
get it working.) Then right click the SpeedSpan
connection and select properties. Click the
General tab and enter the SpeedSpan number,
859.547.1415. (Do not dial 1 first if in Cincinnati Bell area.) Continue with # 4.

Click on the tab "Server" or "Server
Settings" and confirm that the settings
are like the below picture.

Click on the button "TCP/IP Settings"
and confirm that the buttons "Server
assigned IP address" and "Server
assigned name server addresses" are selected.

Click "OK" to close TCP/IP Settings.
Click "OK" to close Properties.
Close Dial-up Networking. Close My Computer.

If you have made the changes to your account
name and these settings, then you are now
ready to access the Internet and email. |
