How do I connect
using a Macintosh (OS9.x) ?
1.
You need
the following:
modem
software installed
with System:
TCP/IP Control Panel
Remote Access (aka PPP) Control Panel
complete set of Open Transport system extensions
software: browser, email package.
2.
Configure the
TCP/IP panel:
(Open Transport version shown. Select from
Control Panels in the Apple menu.)
Just set the two starred
items - if this is your only internet access.
If you have more than one way to access
the internet, Select "Configurations..."
in the File menu.
Click "Duplicate".
Enter a name (e.g., internet provider's
name) for this configuration.
Click "OK," then click "Done."
Set the two starred items as below. Clear
all other fields.
Close the TCP/IP control panel (or select
Quit in the File menu).
You will be asked to confirm the changes
you just made.
Click "OK."

Configure the
Remote Access (PPP) panel:
(Select from Control Panels in the Apple menu.)
Fill in the panel as shown, but substitute
"tso" or other affiliate name
in place of "span" (some newer
accounts are not preceded by any affiliate
name) - if this is your only internet access.
If you have more than one way to access
the internet, Select "Configurations..."
in the File menu.
Click "Duplicate".
Enter a name (e.g., internet provider's
name) for this configuration.
Click "OK," then click "Done."
Fill in the panel as shown.
Close the Remote Access control panel (or
select Quit in the File menu).
You will be asked to confirm the changes
you just made. Click "OK."
4.
Connect to the
internet:
Open the Remote Access control panel and click
"Connect" or
Use the Remote Access tool in the tool bar,
or Open
the Remote Access Status panel and click "Connect" NOTE: The number is now 859.547.1415 (Do not dial 1 first if in Cincinnati Bell area.)
