Prep
(copy this page) : Your dial-up or ZoomTown account
includes web space, and we provide a way to manage
your web pages with your browser. We recommend
you read this entire page before starting. In
fact, when you do the next step, this screen will
dissappear, so either read ahead, print this page,
copy this text to an editor, or open a new browser
window to do these steps. |

Getting
Started : Click the "Account Review"
link at the top of this page. On the next page,
click "Dialup and ZoomTown." You will then
be on a page with a frame across the top where
you can type your user ID and password (the
same as you log on with) and choose from several
options. Click the button that says "Edit Web."
You will get the message that you don't have
a web site but that you can create one. The
page explains that there are some starter templates
you can pick. You can preview them before you
choose. One is a single page with your name
on it! (Note that some "Business" templates
include the request form with your email address
already filled in.) Once you pick a template
and click "Create My Site," you will be on a
page headlined "SiteMgr." |

SiteMgr©
: SiteMgr provides the tools you need.
Study it a little, and before long you'll be creating
pages, deleting pages, editing pages, uploading
pages, etc. Have fun! If SiteMgr doesn't do what
it says, let
us know on our support form. You could develop
your pages off line and use the upload feature
if you have a development package that improves
on simple text editing. Use up to 10 Mbytes storage.
(If your site is popular and traffic exceeds about
50 Mbyte / month, we'll probably suggest the next
web package up.) |

|
|
| |
First
Page : The first page in your site
is usually called index.htm. That page will be
displayed if a visitor simply enters "web.spsp.net/yourid/"
into the Location window. That page can be renamed
index.html, welcome.htm, or welcome.html. (It
can also be index.shtml or welcome.shtml if you
want the server to parse your page to include
other files.) |
|
| |
|
|
| |
MailForm
: Although you won't be able to use cgi (perl,
php, asp, etc.) processing in general, there is
a "mailform" you can use that will accept input
from a user and e-mail it back to you. It is placed
into your site initially if you pick one of the
Business starter page sets, or you can grab it
from our site by clicking the Web Members folder,
then Web Tools, then Mail Form (sample form).
In either case, it is quite customizable. (And
in the latter case, you'll have to customize it
to get your email address into it.) |
